Samsung pleads not guilty!
Samsung Electronics denied on Tuesday having used Dua Lipa’s image without authorization
Seoul, May 12 (EFE).-
Samsung Electronics denied on Tuesday having used Dua Lipa’s image without authorization, after the British singer sued the South Korean giant for $15 million for the alleged misuse of her face on TV packaging.

“The image was used only after receiving explicit assurance from the content partner that permission had been obtained, even for retail boxes,” Samsung Electronics said in a message to EFE.

The South Korean firm, given this guarantee, further rejected “any accusation of intentional misuse.”

The lawsuit, filed by Lipa on May 8 at US District Court for the Central District of California, accused Samsung of using her image without permission or compensation in TV packaging sold since last year, according to the US magazine Variety.
The singer claimed copyright to the photograph taken at a music festival in the US in 2024, and asked Samsung to stop using the image, which the South Korean company refused, according to the magazine.

Samsung explained that the image was used in 2025 for content from third-party partners and that it “deeply respects” Lipa and her image rights, and that it was open to a “constructive resolution” to the issue with the singer’s team.
Dua Lipa is a leading global pop figure, with around 65.6 million monthly listeners on Spotify, as well as three Grammy Awards. The artist has collaborated with luxury brands such as Yves Saint Laurent Beauty, Porsche, and Chanel. EFE
