Back in 1987, AMERICANO newspaper was founded by Oscar Alberto Quintana, then a New Brunswick High School Biology teacher, following an effort to establish a tutoring program that paired his pupils with Rutgers students to help the former do their homework on the College Avenue Campus at Rutgers University, his Alma Mater. Such a a noble endeavor enjoyed the support of both Texas Congressman Henry B. Gonzalez and New Jersey Congressman Robert Roe of Paterson, NJ. Today, AMERICANO is a printed glossy Spanish language newspaper magazine reaching major Hispanic populations in 10 counties across New Jersey. Furthermore, AMERICANO “El Papá de los Pollitos” has a bilingual worldwide online presence.
