The Emmys pay tribute to Dolly Parton, Rob Reiner and Catherine O’Hara

The Emmy Awards ceremony on Monday paid tribute to country music legend Dolly Parton, actress Catherine O’Hara and film director Rob Reiner, who died after the last edition of television’s most prestigious awards.
Actress Sally Field was in charge of honoring Parton’s memory, praising her work both as a country music legend and for her humanitarian efforts.
“I never stopped loving her. Despite living so far away, she was humble, creative, supportive, and had a great sense of humor,” said Field, who shared a close friendship with the singer.
Field and Parton worked together in 1989 on the film ‘Steel Magnolias’, a comedy drama that follows the complex life of a group of friends in a town in Louisiana (USA).
Next, her friend and collaborator Reba McEntirre appeared on stage to sing ‘Appalachian Memories’, the 1983 hit released on the album ‘Burlap & Satin’.
The song tells the story of a poor Appalachian farming family who move north in search of work and a better life. “I love you so much, Dolly,” the singer concluded.
The country music legend passed away from cancer on August 25th. Four days before his death, he had been admitted to a Nashville hospital for kidney and autoimmune problems.
The legacy of Catherine O’Hara and Rob Reiner
American actor Macaulay Culkin appeared on stage alongside Annie Murphy and Dan Levy to pay tribute to Catherine O’Hara, who passed away on January 30th.
“She was my mother (in the movie ‘Home Alone’) and everyone’s mother. By the way, call your mothers. She always showed up when I asked her and this is the best thing we can do for her,” Culkin said in a speech in which he was visibly emotional and his voice broke.
After a performance by Noah Kahan, Jamie Lee Curtis, on the verge of tears, remembered director Rob Reiner, who was found dead in his home in the Brentwood neighborhood of Los Angeles along with his wife Michelle in December of last year.
“He was generous, kind, and very funny. We all miss Rob and Michelle,” she said during a speech.
The Emmys also honored other Hollywood stars such as Diane Ladd, Hayden Panettiere, Robert Duval, Tim Curry, and designer Bob Mackie, among others.
