Germany’s Alexander Zverev won the US Open on Sunday, his second Grand Slam title after Roland Garros, by defeating Ben Shelton, leaving the United States without a champion in New York for the 23rd consecutive year.

Zverev, ranked No. 2 in the world, defeated Shelton (No. 9) 6-3, 7-6 (2), 5-7, and 6-2 in three hours and 33 minutes.

The spectacle wasn’t limited to the blue court; the stands were packed with familiar faces: Brad Pitt and former fashion editor Anna Wintour were joined by top-tier actors such as Jeremy Strong, Adam Driver, Emily Blunt, Courteney Cox, Amy Schumer, Jerry Seinfeld, Katie Holmes, and Pierce Brosnan.

Lin-Manuel Miranda, Camila Cabello, singer Pink, producer Benny Blanco, and Venezuelan conductor Gustavo Dudamel led the music and culture scene, while Tommy Hilfiger spearheaded the fashion segment.

Former Brazilian soccer player Ronaldo Nazário and basketball player Jalen Brunson also enjoyed the game.EFE
