Seoul, May 11 (EFE).-
British singer Dua Lipa sued Samsung Electronics for $15 million, alleging the company used her image without authorization on TV boxes marketed since last year.

According to the lawsuit, filed in a court in California on Friday, the artist accuses the South Korean manufacturer of using her face on cardboard TV packaging without permission or compensation.
Samsung, for its part, told EFE on Monday that it cannot comment on ongoing litigation.

The legal complaint said that the singer became aware of Samsung’s infringement and violation of her right of publicity in or about June 2025, and immediately demanded that Samsung cease and desist from the infringement, which the company has repeatedly refused to do so.
“Samsung’s unauthorized use of the DL Image has thus caused and continues to cause dilution of Plaintiff’s valuable brand identity and commercial goodwill by falsely conveying to the consuming public that she approves of and endorses the Infringing Products,” the lawsuit added, pointing out that the artist owns the copyright of the photograph used, taken at a festival in the US in 2024.

The lawsuit also cites comments posted on X by users suggesting that the artist’s photo on the box could influence its purchase.
