Trump says A “Great and brilliant day for the world.”
Washington, Apr 17 (EFE).-
President Donald Trump announced on Friday that Iran has agreed never to close the Strait of Hormuz again. The president celebrated the end of the threat over this strategic maritime route, calling it a “great and brilliant day for the world.”

“Iran has agreed to never close the Strait of Hormuz again. It will no longer be used as a weapon against the World!” Trump wrote on his Truth Social account.
The Republican leader predicted that the process for a final agreement should be quick, as most negotiation points are advanced.
As part of this opening process, Trump revealed that Tehran is removing all naval mines placed during the conflict.

“Iran, with the help of the USA, has removed, or is removing, all sea mines! Thank you!” wrote the president.
Last week, he commented that these developments would benefit the economies of countries such as China, Japan, South Korea, and Germany.
Iran confirmed that the strait will remain “fully open” until Wednesday, a measure that is a direct result of the ceasefire with the US and the truce in Lebanon announced on Thursday. The passage will feature one entry and one exit lane to normalize the flow of 20% of the world’s oil.

Mine clearance and military surveillance
The US Central Command (CENTCOM) detailed that two Navy destroyers began operations to ensure the waterway is free of explosives. The goal is to establish the necessary security conditions after weeks of uncertainty that drove up global crude oil prices.
Despite the reopening of the passage, Trump warned that the US naval blockade on the Iranian coast will remain in effect. The restriction affects any vessel entering or leaving Iranian ports, regardless of its flag, until a definitive agreement is signed to end the conflict that began on Feb. 28.

In a direct message to his allies, the president recommended that NATO partners stay “away” from the Strait of Hormuz. Trump, who has criticized the alliance for not participating militarily in the reopening of the route, noted that member countries should only approach if their intention is to “to load up their ships with oil.”
“Now that the Hormuz Strait situation is over, I received a call from NATO asking if we would need some help. I TOLD THEM TO STAY AWAY,” commented Trump.
