Neymar with muscle injury!
Teresópolis, Brazil, May 28 (EFE).-
Neymar, who is training with the Brazilian national team for the 2026 World Cup, has been diagnosed with a grade II muscle injury in the calf area and will be out of action for “two to three weeks,” though he will not leave the Canarinha, the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) announced on Thursday.

The Brazilian national team’s doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar, said in a press conference that the Santos FC player will continue “intensive treatment” over the coming days.
Neymar joined the Brazilian squad on Wednesday at the training ground in Teresópolis, in the mountains of Rio de Janeiro, alongside around 20 other players selected by Italian coach Carlo Ancelotti.

However, he missed the first training session and went to a clinic for additional tests.

Santos had previously reported that the striker had only a “slight swelling” in his calf, but the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) wanted its own assessment.
Ney underwent an MRI which confirmed a “grade II muscle injury in his calf,” Lasmar told journalists.

“He will continue intensive treatment with us, and within two to three weeks, he will be cleared. That’s the expectation,” the doctor said.
Neymar will definitely miss Brazil’s upcoming pre-World Cup friendlies, one against Panama, on Sunday at the Maracaná stadium, and the other against Egypt, on June 6 at the Huntington Bank Field in Cleveland, United States.

He will also be doubtful for the debut in Group C of the World Cup in the US Mexico and Canada against Morocco, on June 13, in New Jersey.
Brazil will then face Haiti on June 19 in Philadelphia, and Scotland five days later in Miami.

Neymar’s inclusion in Ancelotti’s squad came as a major surprise, as the Italian coach had not called him up since taking charge of the Canarinha in May 2025.

However, “Carletto” ultimately decided to call him up after observing his physical progression and return to form with Santos in recent months. EFE
