International Desk, July 14 (EFE).-

Maddox and Zahara, two of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s children, have begun the legal process to remove the surname Pitt from their names, according to several US media outlets.

Their sister Shiloh completed the same process in 2024, while twins Vivienne and Knox no longer appear to use the surname publicly.

Jolie and Pitt have six children together: three adopted – Maddox, 24, Pax, 22, and Zahara, 21, and three biological – Shiloh, 20, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 18.

According to People and other outlets that reviewed court documents, both Maddox and Zahara published legal notices of their intent to change their surnames, a requirement under California law before a court can approve a name change.

The notices were published in the Los Angeles Daily Journal.

People reported that Zahara’s notice appeared on July 9 and Maddox’s on July 7.

Court hearings to finalize their requests have been scheduled for Sep. 28 in Zahara’s case and Sep. 14 in Maddox’s.

In August 2024, People confirmed that Shiloh had legally changed her name to Shiloh Jolie after filing the petition on May 27, 2024, the day she turned 18.

Following that change, a source close to Pitt told People that the actor was aware of the decision and was “disgusted.”

“For Brad, of course, it’s not easy to face reminders that he has lost his children. He loves them and misses them,” the source told the magazine.

Vivienne was credited as “Vivienne Jolie” in the May 2024 program for “The Outsiders,” the Broadway musical produced by her mother, in which she worked as a production assistant.

Knox was listed as “Knox Jolie” on his high school graduation certificate earlier this year, although it remains unclear whether he has formally started the legal process to change his surname.

According to a recent report by Page Six, Pax is the only one of the six siblings who continues to use the surname Jolie-Pitt and maintains a relationship with some members of his father’s family.

Jolie and Pitt announced their separation in 2016, but their divorce was not legally finalized until 2024.

A representative for Pitt told People that same year that the actor no longer had contact with his adult children.

At the time, he still had visitation with his younger children, Knox and Vivienne, who turned 18 on July 12. EFE
