Mexico sanctioned by Fifa over chants!
Mexico played friendly games against Ghana and Ecuador!
Puebla, Mexico, May 22 (EFE).-
The Mexican Football Federation (FMF) announced Friday that it was sanctioned by the FIFA Disciplinary Committee with a partial stadium closure for the friendly match between the Mexican national team and Ghana.

The FMF said in a statement that FIFA’s disciplinary committee had imposed the punitive measure following incidents of discriminatory behaviour by fans during two friendlies against Ecuador and Paraguay last year.

In both matches, the fans made homophobic chants, something for which the Mexican national team has already been sanctioned on other occasions.

The FMF reiterated its commitment to the eradication of any discriminatory behavior in the stadiums and called on the fans to support their teams with passion and respect.
The sanctions come days ahead of the FIFA World Cup, which is to be co-hosted by Mexico, Canada and the United States, which kicks off on Jun. 11. EFE as/sc
