President Donald Trump on Thursday hosted Britain’s King Charles III and Queen Camilla at the White House as they concluded their state visit to the United States.

Trump and First Lady Melania Trump welcomed the royal couple on the South Portico, where they posed for official photographs in front of US and British flags. The group did not take questions from the press.
“He is a great king, the best king, in my judgment,” Trump said before accompanying the monarchs inside for a brief meeting.
The president later saw them off as they departed for Arlington National Cemetery in the state of Virginia, where they laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

The visit continued with a trip to Shenandoah National Park, reflecting the royal couple’s long-standing interest in environmental causes.
They are also scheduled to visit the town of Front Royal for a community event linked to preparations for the 250th anniversary of US independence.
Later, the king and queen will attend a horse race near The Plains, while Queen Camilla is expected to visit an equestrian facility highlighting the shared British-American heritage in the sport.

During their time in Virginia, the royal couple will also meet Governor Abigail Spanberger.

The visit, which began on Monday, marks their first state trip to the US since Charles’s coronation and the first White House visit since Trump returned to office in January 2025.
On Tuesday, the central day of the program, Trump hosted an official reception, praising the “close friendship” between the two nations.

That same day, King Charles addressed a joint session of Congress, condemning a recent assassination attempt against Trump and underscoring longstanding bilateral ties.
On Wednesday, the royal couple traveled to New York City, where they paid tribute to the victims of the Sep. 11 attacks before returning to Washington.

After departing the United States, the monarchs are due to visit Bermuda.
The trip comes amid diplomatic tensions between the Trump administration and the British government led by Prime Minister Keir Starmer over London’s stance on the Iran conflict.
Trump has suggested that his personal rapport with King Charles could help ease those tensions. EFE
