World Cup for Spain in East Rutherford, New Jersey, US, Jul 19 (EFE).-
Spain national team was crowned world champion for the second time in its history on Sunday, defeating Argentina 1-0 in extra time in the final with a goal by Ferran Torres in the 106th minute.

Luis de la Fuente’s team dominated the match from start to finish but struggled to find the back of the net until the winning goal, scored by Ferran Torres after a header back by Nico Williams following a cross from Pedro Porro.

Throughout the game, Martínez saved Argentina 10 times in the first 98 minutes, but Spain dominated throughout with their trademark pressure.

Argentina upped the pressure in the second half, but a red card for midfielder Enzo Fernandez in stoppage time left Lionel Messi’s team with 10 men for the extra time.

Spain had a chance in the 98th minute with a free kick, but Martínez saved Argentina once again.
Nico Williams Jr. scored just before the 100th minute, but the goal was called back due to a foul as Mikel Merino stepped on Otamendi.

Spain finally got on the scoreboard five minutes later with a goal from midfielder Ferran Torres, who smashed the ball into the net off a deflection.

The Spanish national team was crowned world champion for the second time in its history, 16 years after its first title in South Africa in 2010, which it also won with a 0-1 victory in extra time over the Netherlands, thanks to Andrés Iniesta’s famous goal.EFE
