R&B singer Wheesung found dead!
Seoul, Mar 11 (EFE).-
South Korean R&B singer Wheesung, 43, was found dead Monday in his apartment in Seoul, in a new case of premature death of a young artist from the country, where celebrities are frequent victims of cyberbullying.

Police confirmed that the body of the artist, whose real name is Choi Whee-sung, was found by his mother at about 6:29pm local time (9:29 GMT) on Monday.
After the discovery, authorities requested an autopsy to clarify the circumstances of the death, although they noted that at the moment there are no signs of violence, according to information collected by the local news agency Yonhap.

Wheesung gained popularity in South Korea thanks to hits such as “With Me” and “Insomnia,” becoming one of the references of South Korean R&B in the 2000s.
His musical career, however, suffered a setback in 2021 after being found guilty of habitual use of propofol and received a one-year prison sentence, suspended for two years.

His death adds to the recent apparent suicide of young actress Kim Sae-ron, 24, and other cases of premature deaths that have affected South Korean celebrities. This has reopened the debate again on the pressures and personal problems artists face in the highly competitive entertainment industry in South Korea. EFE
