Katie Zacharia steps down from WH press secretary’s gig!
Washington, Oct 16 (EFE).-
Katie Zacharia, the new White House press secretary, stepped down on Friday after the United States President Donald Trump suggested she resign, following criticism during her first week on the job, an official confirmed to EFE.

“Ms. Zacharia is in the process of stepping down as press secretary,” the official said, without specifying whether she had resigned or been fired shortly after President Trump suggested she leave the position.
“I said to her, ‘Honestly, if I were you, I’d reconsider. You think about it. But I would reconsider,'” Trump said on Friday, adding that he would speak with the press secretary.

“Is this for you Katie? Honestly, you don’t need this,” the president told reporters before adding that he would “let her make that decision.”
Zacharia took office on Monday, Oct. 12, after Karoline Leavitt left the position in August to focus on her family.

The president announced Zacharia’s appointment on Friday, Oct. 9.

Zacharia’s first press briefing on Tuesday, Oct. 13, lasted just 14 minutes. During that time, she read most of her prepared remarks and answered only three questions, all from conservative media outlets.
She also struggled to answer some questions, such as one regarding the sharing of intelligence with Ukraine.
In addition to the criticism surrounding her debut, questions have been raised about her professional background. Trump introduced her as a lawyer when he announced her appointment; however, Zacharia acknowledged this week that she failed the California bar exam in 2011, despite having earned her law degree from Pepperdine University.

On Friday, Zacharia defended herself in another interview, this time with Fox News, arguing that her role is to represent the president to the press and not to serve as a White House lawyer.EFE
