France sends Morocco home!

France defeated Morocco 2-0 with goals from Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé and advanced to the semifinals of the 2026 World Cup.

​The best first-half opportunity for France came in the 25th minute when Mbappé was tackled near the Morocco goal and won a penalty kick, which was saved by Morocco’s keeper Yassine Bounou.

​The teams went into half-time with a 0-0 score, but in the 60th minute, a sensational shot by Mbappé put France ahead.

​The second goal came six minutes later when Mbappé assisted Ousmane Dembélé, who darted through the Moroccan defense.

​Thanks to Thursday’s goal, Mbappé tied Lionel Messi in the tournament’s scoring standings, both leading at 8 goals.

​He also reached his 20th goal in a World Cup, putting him one behind the Argentine “No. 10,” who, with 21, is the all-time leading scorer in World Cup history. EFE
