Sports Desk, July 9 (EFE).-
France defeated Morocco 2-0 with goals from Kylian Mbappé and Ousmane Dembélé and advanced to the semifinals of the 2026 World Cup.

The best first-half opportunity for France came in the 25th minute when Mbappé was tackled near the Morocco goal and won a penalty kick, which was saved by Morocco’s keeper Yassine Bounou.

The teams went into half-time with a 0-0 score, but in the 60th minute, a sensational shot by Mbappé put France ahead.

The second goal came six minutes later when Mbappé assisted Ousmane Dembélé, who darted through the Moroccan defense.
Thanks to Thursday’s goal, Mbappé tied Lionel Messi in the tournament’s scoring standings, both leading at 8 goals.

He also reached his 20th goal in a World Cup, putting him one behind the Argentine “No. 10,” who, with 21, is the all-time leading scorer in World Cup history. EFE
