FlixLatino, a Spanish-language streaming platform operating in the United States and Puerto Rico, announced Friday the launch of its free ad-supported video-on-demand service (AVOD), aimed at expanding access to premium Spanish-language entertainment.

The platform’s new offering includes more than 10,000 hours of content, comprising 200 films and 13 free ad-supported television channels (known as FAST channels), made possible through partnership agreements with leading content providers in the region, according to a statement.

“With the launch of our AVOD service, we are removing barriers to entry and making high-quality Spanish-language content accessible to a much broader audience,” said Luis Guillermo Villanueva, chief operating officer of Somos Next, the creator of the FlixLatino brand.

Content catalog

FlixLatino’s AVOD service features a selection of films, series, and live channels that users can enjoy without a subscription. The platform offers a range of genres, including drama, comedy, thriller, and family content.

Some of the standout titles in the catalog include ‘2067,’ a science fiction story about a man sent to a dystopian future to save humanity from environmental collapse; ‘Atrevidas,’ a series about bold women who confront social and identity challenges; and ‘Antes de que cante el gallo,’ a suspense film portraying a young woman’s coming of age in Puerto Rico.

Meanwhile, the platform’s 13 FAST channels provide uninterrupted programming from major Latin American networks such as TV Azteca, Caracol Televisión, RCN Televisión, and Cine en Español, featuring content ranging from telenovelas and films to entertainment programming.

Growth strategy

In addition to this launch, FlixLatino said it aims to continue its strategic growth by expanding its free offering through an increased content library with more films and series, the addition of new FAST channels, the introduction of live and on-demand sports events, and improved personalization and content discovery features.

“The rapid adoption of free streaming among U.S. Hispanics validates our expansion strategy into AVOD and FAST. This allows us to grow faster, reach new audiences, and build a long-term monetization engine through advertising and partnerships,” Villanueva concluded. EFE
