Heathrow Airport shuts down Today 3/21/2025!

Heathrow Airport shut down on Friday and warned that it could experience significant alterations following a fire in a nearby electrical substation that caused a power outage.
More than 1,350 flights – 679 scheduled arrivals and 678 departures for Friday are affected due to the incident, according to data provided by the flight tracking service Flightradar24 in its X account.
Heathrow airport has asked passengers not to travel there until activity resumes.
The fire broke out in a substation in Hayes, west of the capital, which supplies Heathrow, and has left thousands of homes in the area without electricity while more than 150 people had to be evacuated from surrounding properties.
Emergency services were called during the night at 11.23pm GMT and eye witnesses in the affected area have shared videos of the fire and smoke columns on social networks.
According to the London Fire Brigade (LFB), the cause of the fire was yet to be determined.
The fire department revealed that ten units and around 70 personnel were sent to control the blaze.
Moreover, a 200-meter security perimeter has been set up as a precautionary measure and residents of that area have been advised to keep doors and windows of their homes closed in the face of the significant amount of smoke generated.
Last year alone, more than 83.9 million passengers passed through Heathrow’s terminals. EFE
