Democrats take control of the Senate and the House!
Washington, Nov 3 (EFE).-
Democrats have won control of the U.S. Senate in Tuesday’s midterm elections, according to projections by ABC and NBC, which give them 51 seats in the chamber. The victory adds to Democratic gains in the House of Representatives and gives the party control of both chambers of Congress for the remaining two years of President Donald Trump’s term.

The decisive victory for control of the Senate came in Iowa, where Democrat Josh Turek defeated Republican candidate Ashley Hinson in a race that polls had initially projected to be extremely close.

Iowa, a rural, Republican-leaning state where Trump won in 2016, 2020 and 2024, became an example of voter dissatisfaction with the White House and the Republican Party over rising fuel prices, driven in part by the war against Iran launched by the Republican president.

Democrats also scored major victories in key states, flipping Republican-held Senate seats in South Carolina, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas and Kansas.

The latter two states had not elected Democratic senators in 38 and 94 years, respectively.
The midterm results reflect growing discontent among Americans with Trump and the Republicans, and raise the prospect that Democrats could seek to impeach the president in Congress. EFE
