Christa Pike survives lethal injections!
Washington, Oct. 10 (EFE).—
Christa Pike, the American inmate who survived two lethal injections in Tennessee on September 30, has been discharged from the Nashville hospital where she was admitted, her attorneys reported this Saturday.

Her defense team indicated that she has been transferred back to the Debra K. Johnson Rehabilitation Center in Nashville, the state of Tennessee’s primary women’s prison.
Her attorneys stated in a press release that Pike “is grateful to the emergency personnel and medical staff for the care received under these extraordinary circumstances.”

Pike, 50, will continue receiving medical care in prison, where her health condition will remain under monitoring.
On September 30, Pike survived two doses of pentobarbital, forcing officials to halt the execution and transfer her to a hospital, where she remained unconscious for several days.
As a result of the failed execution, Pike has a blood clot in one arm, has developed pneumonia, and is unable to swallow, according to details provided by her attorneys.

Bill Lee, the Governor of Tennessee—a state that has failed to carry out two executions via lethal injection this year—suspended all remaining scheduled executions for this year following the incident. It remains unclear whether he will seek a new warrant to carry out Pike’s death sentence.
Tennessee has executed 17 inmates since the reinstatement of capital punishment in the United States in 1977, according to data from the Death Penalty Information Center, an organization that compiles national execution statistics.
Currently, 42 people remain on death row in Tennessee. EFE
