Argentine striker Ángel Correa scored a penalty and provided an assist in Tigres’ 5-1 rout of Santos Laguna in the Mexican Clausura tournament on Friday, a victory that propelled them to second place in the standings, currently led by Guadalajara.

Brazilian Joaquim, Édgar López, Ángel Correa, Diego Lainez, and Diego Sánchez all contributed to the comeback win for the team managed by Argentine coach Guido Pizarro.
Argentine Lucas Di Yorio scored for Santos, who had taken the lead with a pass from his compatriot Ramiro Sordo after a defensive error by Joaquim.

Tigres pressed forward in search of an equalizer and found it in the 40th minute with a header from Joaquim, who redeemed himself with a header.
Three minutes later, Brunetta assisted López.
In the second half, Tigres dominated their opponent and their dominance was reflected on the scoreboard. Correa scored a penalty in the 62nd minute. Lainez scored with his left foot in the 73rd, and Sánchez added the finishing touch in the 79th.

With the result, Tigres climbed to second place with 10 points, two points behind league leaders Guadalajara.
Santos Laguna remains in second-to-last place with one point.
Necaxa, coached by Uruguayan Martín Varini, thrashed San Luis 4-1 today. San Luis played the second half with ten men after Brazilian Robson Bambu was sent off.

Argentinians Julián Carranza and Tomás Baladoni, along with Mexicans Alexis Peña and Ricardo Monreal, secured the victory.
San Luis pulled one back with a penalty converted by Italian Joao Pedro, who leads the league in scoring with five goals.
Necaxa provisionally moved up to ninth place with six points, two more than San Luis, who sit in fifteenth.
Later, league leaders Guadalajara will visit Mazatlán in search of their fifth win in as many outings, and Tijuana will host Puebla.
