According to the Commission, “the report prepared by the National Sports Office (OND) of the National Police included images of the banana being thrown from the stands of the Carlos Belmonte municipal stadium during the celebration of the home team’s final goal in a match played on January 14.”

The Commission classifies the incident as “a serious offense, as defined in Law 19/2007 of July 11 against violence, racism, xenophobia, and intolerance in sport, and requests a 12-month ban from sports venues for the fan.” EFE
