International Desk, Jul 1 (EFE).-

Harry Kane’s two goals gave England a 2-1 victory over the Democratic Republic of Congo in the round of 32 at the Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Brian Cipenga’s goal in the 7th minute made England stumble until Kane’s first goal in the 75th minute.

Tension grew in the second half, which Kane broke with a victory goal for England in the 86th minute.

It was the first time England had won a World Cup match after conceding the first goal since the 1966 final.

Belgium wins in extra time against Senegal
In another display of resilience, Belgium pulled off a dramatic 3-2 victory against Senegal.

The Senegalese side dominated the game, establishing a commanding 2-0 lead through goals by Habib Diarra in the 24th minute and Ismaïla Sarr in the 51st minute.

Belgium’s fightback began in the 86th minute when substitute Romelu Lukaku scored Belgium’s first goal. Youri Tielemans equalized just three minutes later, bringing the game to 2-2.

With the match seemingly heading toward a penalty shootout, Tielemans was fouled in the dying moments of extra time.
After a video review, Belgium got a penalty, and Tielemans successfully converted it in the 120+5th minute to seal a stunning comeback win.

US hosts beat Bosnia and Herzegovina to advance
Belgium will face Mauricio Pochettino’s United States team on Monday after it defeated Bosnia and Herzegovina 2-0 on Wednesday at Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco, securing their place in the Round of 16 of the World Cup they are hosting.

With Pochettino on the bench and goals from Folarin Balogun, who was sent off in the second half and will miss the Round of 16, and Malik Tillman, the US achieved only their second victory in a World Cup knockout stage.

The US went from euphoria after taking the lead through Balogun in the 45th minute to despair when their striker was sent off with a straight red card in the 64th minute. But they held on and ultimately celebrated after a second goal by Tillman in the 84th. EFE
