International Desk, Dec 23 (EFE).-

United States President Donald Trump flew at least eight times with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein on his private plane in the 1990, including a time when he traveled with just him and a 20-year-old girl.

This information was found in a new batch of the thousands of unpublished files on the Epstein case that the US Department of Justice published on Monday afternoon but was apparently deleted; however, The Washington Post managed to download them before they were removed from public domain.

Unlike those published on Saturday, the new files include several mentions of Trump, who has tried to distance himself as far as possible from Epstein and his crimes, the US daily reported Tuesday.

““For your situational awareness, wanted to let you know that the flight records we received yesterday reflect that Donald Trump traveled on Epstein’s private jet many more times than previously has been reported (or that we were aware),” US attorney in the Southern District of New York wrote an internal email about a review of flight records in January 2020, which is included in the files.

Trump flew on Epstein’s plane at least eight times between 1993 and 1996, wrote the prosecutor, who said that this period fits with the investigations into Epstein’s accomplice and ex-partner, Ghislaine Maxwell, who was with the current president on at least four of those flights.

In some cases, the prosecutor added, those on the plane could serve as witnesses in the case against Maxwell, who was sentenced in 2021 to 20 years in prison for sex trafficking of minors.

The documents also reveal that the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) collected several clues about Trump’s relationship with Epstein during parties at their respective properties in the early 2000s, although they do not confirm whether there was any further investigation.

Moreover, the files show that investigators in Maxwell’s case sent a 2021 subpoena to Mar-a-Lago, Trump’s private mansion and club in West Palm Beach, Florida, according to the Post.

The reason for that summons is not entirely clear, but the documents do indicate that a federal prosecutor was looking for documents about people who worked at the Trump club that could be relevant in the case against Maxwell.

“I have not been able to locate anyone who recalls [redacted] working at Mar a Lago in 2000,” the federal prosecutor wrote in an internal email that was included in the files.

The new files also include a 22-page letter from the US Department of Justice criminal division to UK authorities requesting a voluntary interview with “The Witness PA”, referring to Prince Andrew.

King Charles III of the United Kingdom withdrew in November the title of prince and other distinctions from his brother Andrew, who had fallen from grace because of his past link with Epstein and his questionable business activities.

The Justice Department launched a website on Friday for documents from the investigation of Epstein – who committed suicide in prison in 2019 – after the Congress passed a law requiring the government to release all unclassified information in the case. EFE
