Total Eclipse will repeat in 2027!

Following Wednesday’s total solar eclipse, attention now turns to the next one in 2027 that scientists say will be among the longest of the century.
On Aug.2, 2027, the eclipse will last 6 minutes, 23 seconds, according to Spain’s National Geographic Institute.
Egypt will offer some of the world’s best viewing conditions, with locations along the eclipse’s central path and with the longest duration.
The 2027 eclipse will differ sharply from the recent one in both duration and timing. The recent eclipse produced just over two minutes of totality near Iceland, while next year’s event will last more than six minutes at its peak.
It also will occur in the morning rather than late afternoon, when the recent eclipse was visible from Spain.
The resulting contrast between daylight and the sudden darkness of totality is expected to be especially striking.
The eclipse will begin at 7:30 am GMT over the Atlantic and end at 2:43 pm GMT over the Indian Ocean, a journey lasting 313 minutes.
The celestial sequence will continue on Jan. 26, 2028, with an annular eclipse. The moon will pass in front of the sun but will not completely cover it, leaving a bright ring of sunlight around the lunar silhouette.
The annular eclipse will reach its peak in Brazil, where the ring of fire will remain visible for 10 minutes, 27 seconds, making it one of the longest annular eclipses of the century.
Its path will cross Ecuador, Peru, southern Colombia, Brazil, Suriname and French Guiana before reaching Portugal and Spain. Partial phases will be visible across much of the Americas, southern Greenland, western Europe and parts of North Africa. EFE
