Five middle and high school students, alongside their parents, participated in a community cleanup in Allentown, New Jersey. United by their love for God and their neighbors, ASEZ STAR students from across New York, New Jersey, Boston and the Dominican Republic are using their spring break to support Earth Day through meaningful, hands-on action.

In 1970, Earth Day was established in the United States to raise awareness about the severity of environmental pollution. In 2025, more than 190 countries are now engaged in environmental initiatives—and among those leading the way are the youth volunteers of ASEZ STAR, a student-led group from the World Mission Society Church of God.

The event was conducted in partnership with the Allentown High School and received the support of local leaders, including Mayor Thomas Fritts, and Police Ptl. Krebs.

Mayor Fritts commended the students, stating:“Big change starts with small steps. Efforts like today’s cleanup may seem simple, but they are vital in building a future where sustainability is second nature.” ”

This initiative is part of ASEZ STAR’s Green School Campaign, which seeks to raise awareness about environmental stewardship and promote sustainable daily habits aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Through school- and community-based activities, students are taking practical steps to protect the environment and inspire change among their peers.

These initiatives are not only transforming communities but also shaping the character of the students involved.

ASEZ STAR member Angelina Harper reflected: “This is more than just picking up trash—it’s about inspiring change and taking responsibility for our environment. We want to lead by example and encourage others to treat every day like Earth Day.”  By the end of the cleanup, the group picked up 75 pounds of trash and filled two large bags with leaves.

ASEZ STAR, which stands for “Save the Earth from A to Z – Students Take Action Right Now,” is composed of passionate student volunteers from the World Mission Society Church of God. Their mission is to take impactful action for the environment while setting a positive example for classmates, communities, and the world.
