Pope Leo XIV promoting peace!
Vatican City, Aug 10 (EFE).-
Pope Leo XVI on Sunday called on world leaders to take responsibility for promoting peace, stressing the duty to address the needs of the most vulnerable worldwide.
“Let us continue to pray for an end to all wars,” the Pope said after the Sunday Angelus prayer in St. Peter’s Square.

Recalling the 80th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, he said the commemoration has sparked a renewed global awareness of the need to reject war as a “means of resolving conflicts.”
“Those in positions of power must never lose sight of the consequences their decisions have on people’s lives,” he said. “They must not ignore the needs of the most vulnerable or the universal longing for peace.”

Pope Leo also congratulated Armenia and Azerbaijan on their Aug. 8 peace agreement to end their long-standing dispute, describing it as “a sign of hope.”
“We all hope (this agreement) will contribute to a stable and lasting peace in the South Caucasus,” he said.
The Pope also addressed the crisis in Haiti, expressing deep sorrow over the suffering of a population “increasingly overwhelmed by despair.”
He condemned the country’s pervasive “violence of all kinds, human trafficking, forced displacement, and kidnappings.” EFE ccg/bks
