Colombia beats Ghana!
Colombia will face Switzerland next!
Kansas City, US, Jul 3 (EFE).-
Colombia qualified on Friday for the World Cup’s Round of 16, where they will face Switzerland, after defeating Ghana 1-0 with a goal by Jhon Arias in the 14th minute.

Arias’ goal was enough for Néstor Lorenzo’s team to secure their spot in a game where they missed several clear scoring chances. Still, the narrow advantage did not cause concern for a defense that has conceded just one goal in four games.

Thousands of Colombian fans wearing yellow jerseys, waving flags and chanting transformed the Kansas City stadium into yellow.
Jhon Córdoba had to come off injured in the 8th minute and was substituted by Luis Javier Suárez, who set up the game’s only goal.

He came down the right wing, setting up a cross to the far post, where Arias pushed the ball into the back of the net, making it 1-0 in favor of Los Cafeteros.
The goal failed to wake Ghana up, and Colombia dominated the match, circulating the ball calmly to find spaces that opened up as the minutes passed.

At the start of the second half, Colombia’s Luis Diaz scored but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Near the end, a header from Davinson Sánchez was brilliantly saved by Ghanaian goalkeeper Lawrence Ati-Zigi, while Juan Fernando Quintero came close to scoring with a long-range shot that narrowly missed. EFE
