Venezuela’s Earthquake Death Toll reaches 3,811

Caracas, Jul 8 (EFE).-
The death toll from the twin earthquakes that struck Venezuela two weeks ago rose to 3,811 on Wednesday, while the number of injured remained at 16,740, according to official figures.

āThe number of injured remains unchanged from Sundayās tally, while the death toll has risen by 126.
āParliament Speaker Jorge RodrĆguez stated during a meeting with Acting President Delcy RodrĆguez that 17,907 people are homeless following the twin earthquakes, while the number of people rescued has remained at 6,462 since Thursday.

āHe also said that authorities have assisted 86,794 families and distributed 9,6 million kilograms of food.
āRodrĆguez said that 856 buildings were damaged by the earthquakes, 190 of which collapsed completely.
āHe added that there are 4,388 international rescue workers in the South American country, along with 30,076 personnel from the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, national, state, and municipal police, fire departments, Civil Protection, and other officials deployed to temporary camps.

āThe Parliament speaker also noted that 28,992 people have registered as volunteers to assist in the emergency response following the twin earthquakes of magnitudes 7.2 and 7.5 on June 24.
āOn Wednesday, Education Minister HĆ©ctor RodrĆguez reported that at least 16,686 people are being housed in 87 temporary camps set up by the Venezuelan government. EFE
