Caracas, Jul 29 (EFE).-

The Venezuelan government on Monday demanded that Argentina, Chile, Costa Rica, Peru, Panama, the Dominican Republic, and Uruguay “immediately withdraw their representatives on Venezuelan territory” in protest of their “interfering actions and statements” in Sunday’s presidential election, an official statement said.

The government of Nicolás Maduro also decided to “withdraw all diplomatic personnel from the missions” in these seven Latin American countries, which were among the many that throughout the day questioned the Electoral Council’s declaration that Maduro, in power since 2013, had won Sunday’s presidential election.

The Venezuelan government expressed “its resolute rejection of the interference and declarations of a group of right-wing governments subservient to Washington and openly committed to the dirtiest ideological postulates of international fascism (…) that pretend to ignore the electoral results,” said the statement.

The National Electoral Council officially declared Maduro president on Monday.

The council has only released one public report on the results of the elections late Sunday night when 80% of the ballots had been counted and more than two million votes still remained to be counted.

That report said Mauro garnered 51.2 % of the vote and the main opposition candidate, Edmundo González, 44.2 %, but did not specify which of the other eight candidates the 2,394,268 unreported votes went to. EFE
