Trump heavy investment on AI
Washington, Jul 15 (EFE).-
President Donald Trump announced on Tuesday an infrastructure investment in Pennsylvania of approximately 92 billion dollars. At an energy and innovation summit in Pittsburgh, Trump announced that 36 billion will go to new data centers, and 56 billion will go toward infrastructure to supply energy-intensive facilities with electricity.

50 billion will likely go to Google and Blackstone, which will each spend around 25 billion in Pennsylvania and neighboring states, which have the largest power grid in the country.
Since returning to power, Trump has pledged to expedite the approval and construction of new gas, coal, and nuclear power plants that will supply AI data centers.

The federal government is increasing its use of AI.
Tuesday’s announcement is part of Trump’s resounding bid to strengthen US capabilities and future advances in AI, considered a core area of national security.
The Pentagon is one of the government departments that has increased its use of AI.
Experts have pointed out that this will benefit several AI companies, such as Palantir, a platform and data collection company founded by billionaire Peter Thiel.

New Boost for Nvidia
Trump’s macro plan comes hours after the CEO of the US microchip company Nvidia, Jensen Huang, announced during a visit to Beijing that he had received assurances from the US government that he would obtain licenses to export his H20 graphics processing unit to China.
The H20 is an adaptation to the restrictions imposed by Washington as part of its export control policy on advanced chips used in artificial intelligence.

This decision slightly eases the restrictions on Nvidia’s sales to China, as the microchip company cannot sell its most advanced chips to China under Washington’s mandate.
This decision will likely boost Nvidia, which recently surpassed four trillion in market capitalization, to remain a leader in the semiconductor and AI sectors in the US. EFE asb/mcd
