Honduras Presidential Election Results Update!
Tegucigalpa, Nov 30 (EFE).-
Presidential candidate Nasry Asfura of the conservative National Party — publicly endorsed this week by U.S. President Donald Trump — is leading the initial results of Sunday’s general elections in Honduras, according to preliminary figures released by the National Electoral Council (CNE.)

More than four hours after polls closed and with 34.25% of tally sheets counted, Asfura had 530,073 votes, followed by Salvador Nasralla of the Liberal Party with 506,316, CNE officials announced in a national broadcast.

Rixi Moncada, candidate for the ruling Liberty and Refoundation Party (Libre), was in third place with 255,972 votes, said CNE president Ana Paola Hall.
Hall praised the “civic spirit” shown throughout the election and instructed local voting boards to remain in place until they finish “transparent counting and transmission of all tally sheets” for every level of office on the ballot.
Asfura, the son of Palestinian immigrants, received an unusually direct endorsement Thursday from Trump, who urged Hondurans to vote for him and said there would be “a lot of support” for Honduras if Asfura wins.

Trump also described Asfura as “the only true friend of freedom in Honduras” and said he looked forward to “working together to fight the narco-communists” and confront Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
If confirmed, Asfura’s victory would return the National Party to the presidency after its three consecutive terms from 2010 to 2022, a period marred by corruption scandals and alleged links to drug-trafficking networks, according to media reports and investigative findings.

More than 6.5 million people were eligible to vote for a successor to President Xiomara Castro, whose term ends Jan. 27, 2026.
Voters also elected three presidential designates (vice presidents), 128 members of the National Congress, 20 representatives to the Central American Parliament and 298 municipal governments.
The vote count will continue into the night, and the CNE said final results will depend on full transmission of all tally sheets, which the public can track through the council’s online system. EFE
