London, Oct 26 (EFE).-
England’s captain Harry Kane won the 2026 Men’s Ballon d’Or, becoming the first Englishman to claim football’s most prestigious individual accolade in 25 years, as Spanish midfielder Alexia Putellas was crowned in the women’s category for a third time on Monday.

At a star-studded 70th annual gala held at the London Palladium, the 33-year-old Bayern Munich striker took home the top prize ahead of fellow front-runners Kylian Mbappé and Lamine Yamal.

Kane’s triumph follows an extraordinary season in which he netted a staggering 73 goals across 65 appearances for club and country.

In the women’s category, Spanish midfielder Alexia Putellas made history by claiming the Women’s Ballon d’Or for a record-equalling third time.

The Barcelona icon reclaimed the trophy from her teammate Aitana Bonmatí, cementing her legacy.
Spanish football largely dominated the rest of the evening’s major categories.

Lamine Yamal claimed the Kopa Trophy (Best Under-21) for an unprecedented third consecutive year.

Yashin Trophy was claimed by Athletic Bilbao and Spanish team’s goalkeeper Unai Simón, while Barcelona’s Cata Coll secured the women’s equivalent.

Coach of the Year went to Spain’s national team boss Luis de la Fuente, and Barcelona’s Pere Romeu swept the men’s and women’s coaching awards.

Paris Saint-Germain was named Men’s Club of the Year, while FC Barcelona took home the women’s club prize. EFE
