Dominican Logistical Support!
Haiti crisis
Santo Domingo, Oct 24 (EFE).-
Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader said Saturday that he had spoken with his Salvadoran counterpart, Nayib Bukele, about providing logistical support for El Salvador’s operation in Haiti to find four Salvadoran military personnel who went missing after an ambush by armed gangs.

“I spoke with El Salvador’s President Nayib Bukele about logistical and intelligence cooperation for operations against criminal gangs in Haiti,” Abinader said in a post on X.

Abinader said he and Bukele were “constantly monitoring the situation in the neighboring country” and that his responsibility was “to secure our border and protect our people.”

The Dominican president also told reporters that his government was in contact with the Gang Suppression Force (GSF), to which the four Salvadoran personnel belong. Their vehicle was attacked by armed gangs last Sunday in the Port-au-Prince metropolitan area. Bukele ordered a military operation in Haiti earlier this week to find them.
The Dominican Republic shares the island of Hispaniola with Haiti, which is facing a deep political and security crisis marked by gang violence and difficulties restoring institutional stability that have also prevented elections from being held.

“We have reinforced the border, especially the southern border, where the gangs are active, increasing personnel as well as armored vehicles and equipment,” Abinader said.
He said that if Haitian armed gangs, which control much of Port-au-Prince, attempted to approach the Dominican border — something that “has not happened so far” — his government would treat them “as what they are, terrorists.” If they approached, he warned, “they would have a very, very hard time.” EFE
