Beverly Hills, US, Jan 11 (EFE).-
The Leonardo DiCaprio film ‘One Battle After Another,’ and the television series ‘Adolescence’ swept the Golden Globes on Sunday night in Beverly Hills, with four awards each.

Paul Thomas Anderson’s film, which follows a former revolutionary who is forced to rescue his teenage daughter from his old nemesis, won the gongs for best film (musical or comedy), best director, best supporting actress for Teyana Taylor, and best screenplay.
Chloé Zhao’s drama ‘Hamnet,’ about the young William Shakespeare, stood out in the drama categories, winning awards for best film and best actress for Jessie Buckley.

Timothée Chalamet won the first Golden Globe of his career for his work in the biopic ‘Marty Supreme,’ and in his acceptance speech, he thanked his family and his partner Kylie Jenner, who was in the audience.

“My dad instilled in me a spirit of gratitude growing up. Always be grateful for what you have. It’s allowed me to leave this ceremony in the past empty-handed, my head held high, grateful just to be here. But I’d be lying if I didn’t say those moments didn’t make this moment that much sweeter,” the actor said.

Australian Rose Byrne took home her first Golden Globe, for best actress (comedy or musical) in ‘If I Had Legs I’d Kick You,’ while Wagner Moura made history by becoming the first Brazilian actor to win a Golden Globe for ‘The Secret Agent’ as best actor in a drama. The film by Brazilian director Kleber Mendonça Filho won best non-English language film.

The Norwegian film ‘Sentimental Value,’ which had eight nominations, only received recognition for fore best supporting actor thanks to Stellan Skarsgård’s performance. Both the Swedish actor and Anderson defended the continued theatrical release of films during their speeches, a criticism that comes amidst negotiations between the giant Warner Bros., Paramount, and Netflix.

The ceremony also honored the South Korean phenomenon ‘K-Pop Demon Hunters’ with awards for best animated film and best original song for the hit ‘Golden,’ fulfilling the predictions of the Hollywood trade press.
In the television categories, ‘Adolescence’ cemented its momentum, taking home four awards, followed by the medical drama ‘The Pitt’ and the comedy ‘The Studio,’ which each garnered two.

‘Adolescence,’ the series about a 13-year-old boy arrested for the murder of a classmate, won the award for best limited series, while its British actors Owen Cooper and Stephen Graham repeated their Emmy success, taking home the Golden Globes for best supporting actor and best actor respectively. Erin Doherty, who plays the psychologist in the third episode of the series, also won best supporting actress.
At a gala that stood out for its few nods to current international affairs, the creator of ‘The Pitt’, R. Scott Gemmill, was one of the few to refer to the political situation in the US.

“We live in a very divided country in the world right now, but I think cinema brings us all together not only as an audience but as a community,” he said.
The host of the gala, comedian Nikki Glaser, provided lighthearted jokes, overacted sequences, and gags especially directed at DiCaprio, whom she playfully criticized for being too private about his life, recalling his teen interviews. “Is pasta still your favorite food?” Glaser asked as the celebrated actor nodded.

Hollywood legends such as Julia Roberts had a relatively quiet moment at the ceremony: she presented the award for best comedy or musical, but was arguably the most applauded of the night.
The entire room gave her a standing ovation, to the point that she said, “I’m going to be impossible for at least a week. I appreciate that.” EFE
