Miami, Aug 10 (EFE).—

US President Donald Trump is weighing whether to invite Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy to next Friday’s planned meeting in Alaska with Russian President Vladimir Putin, according to US media reports.CNN and NBC, citing government sources, say the idea is under discussion at the White House but not confirmed.

If approved, it remains unclear whether Zelenskyy would join a three-way summit or hold a separate session with Trump.

The Aug. 15 meeting would mark the first encounter between Putin and a US president since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.

Logistics are still being finalized, following the visit last week of White House peace envoy Steve Witkoff to Moscow.

Trump has set a deadline for Russia to take steps toward ending the war or face new US sanctions. Zelenskyy warned Saturday that “decisions made without Ukraine are contrary to peace and are stillborn.”

Leaders of the US, France, Germany, Italy, Poland, Finland, and the European Commission also stressed in a joint statement that “the path to peace in Ukraine cannot be decided without Ukraine.” EFE ppc-sk
