US President Donald Trump emphasized in the Israeli Knesset that this Monday, when the end of two years of war between Israel and Hamas will be signed, is a day of “profound joy, great hope, renewed faith,” marking not only the end of a conflict, but also the end of “an era of terror and death.”
“We gather on a day of profound joy, great hope, renewed faith,” he said at the beginning of his speech after having met shortly before with families of Israeli hostages.

The Republican leader considered that “this is not just the end of a war, it is the end of an era of terror and death and the beginning of an era of faith, hope, and God.” The beginning, he added, of “lasting harmony for Israel and all the nations of what will soon be a truly magnificent region.”
“I firmly believe this is the historic dawn of a new Middle East,” he added to sustained applause, also expressing his “deep gratitude to all of the nations in the Arab and Muslim world who came together to pressure Hamas to release the hostages and let them go.”

To make this possible, he noted, “a great deal of help” was received “from many people you wouldn’t suspect.
” “It’s an incredible triumph for Israel and for the world that all of these nations are working together as partners for peace. And it’s not a common occurrence,” emphasized Trump, who arrived in Israel on Monday.

Trump had been greeted at Tel Aviv airport by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, President Isaac Herzog, and members of the US delegation already in Israel, led by his son-in-law Jared Kushner and daughter Ivanka.
Following his meeting with the hostages’ families and his address to the Knesset, his agenda continues in the Egyptian resort city of Sharm el-Sheikh, where the so-called Peace Summit is scheduled to be attended by more than 30 countries, more than 20 of them represented by their heads of state or government.
