Miami, Nov 28 (EFE).-

A shooting left at least two people wounded in a California shopping center this Friday amid ‘Black Friday’ shopping sales in the United States, according to the San Jose Police Department.

The shooting occurred at the Valley Fair Mall in downtown California, San Jose, where users shared images and videos of them hiding among clothes, running for shelter in stores or screaming with their shopping bags on social media.

Authorities transferred the two wounded to a nearby hospital, the Police Department said in a report on its social networks, which failed to clarify the victims’ identity or health status.

It added that this shooting appeared to be an isolated incident and there was no active shooter, although officers were evacuating the mall to confirm that there was no persistent threat to public safety.

As of now, the motive for the shooting and the identity of the perpetrator remains unknown.

The United States, where Black Friday is the country’s main shopping day of the year, has recorded at least 379 mass shootings, so far in 2025, according to the civil organization Gun Violence Archive. EFE
