Sports Desk, Apr 27 (EFE).-

Liverpool’s waning title hopes were dealt another blow after they were held to a 2-2 draw by West Ham at the London Stadium on Saturday.

After starting strongly, West Ham took the lead just before half time when Jarrod Bowen headed in from a corner.

Liverpool, who have conceded first 16 times in the league this season, equalized shortly after the break when Andy Robertson fired in a left-footed strike.

The Reds were soon in front after Cody Gakpo’s scuffed shot cannoned in off the unlucky Angelo Ogbonna and goalkeeper Alphonse Areola.

As so often this season, Liverpool had several chances to extend their lead and likely put the game to bed, but wayward finishing again let them down.

They were punished in the 77th when an unmarked Mikhail Antonio nodded in Bowen’s lofted pass.

The draw leaves Liverpool in third, one point behind Manchester City although the reigning champions have two games in hand, while Arsenal are one point ahead of City having played one game more. EFE
