Josko Gvardiol scored a brace as Manchester City hammered Fulham 4-0 at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

The Croatian defender – signed by Pep Guardiola as a center back but who has cemented his place at left-back in recent weeks – opened the scoring on 13 minutes when he cut inside on his weaker right foot and applied an accomplished finish to cap off a flowing move.

While Fulham briefly threatened an equalizer early in the second half, Phil Foden doubled the champions’ lead just before the hour-mark to bag his 17th goal of the season.

Gvardiol added his second and his team’s third when he snuck in at the back post to stab the ball home past Bernd Leno in the Fulham goal.

Late in stoppage time, Fulham’s Issa Diop was given his marching orders when he chopped down Julian Alvarez, who stepped up to convert the penalty.

The win lifts City to two points ahead of Arsenal, who travel to Old Trafford on Sunday. EFE
