Crystal Palace defeats Liverpool
Sports Desk, Apr 14 (EFE).-
Liverpool’s title hopes were dealt a severe blow after Crystal Palace won a pulsating tie 1-0 at Anfield on Sunday.
The visitors scored in the 14th minute when Eberechi Eze tapped in at the near post after Palace had outplayed Liverpool down the left.
Palace were millimeters from doubling their lead when Mateta chipped past the onrushing Allison but Andy Robertson somehow cleared the ball off the line.
After that nervous start, Liverpool started to create numerous chances but a combination of wayward finishing and excellent, last-ditch defending kept them at bay.
The second half followed the same pattern, as Liverpool peppered the Crystal Palace goal but somehow failed to find a breakthrough.
The defeat leaves the Reds in third position, two points behind current leader Manchester City, although second placed Arsenal could go top with a win later on Sunday against Aston Villa. EFE
