La Liga Champions: Real Madrid
Madrid, Spain, May 12 (EFE).-
Real Madrid, who were crowned La Liga champions last week, hammered Granada 4-0 on Saturday.
Real, who received the La Liga trophy during a ceremony in central Madrid on Sunday, played a team full of back up players, who handily dispatched the Andalusian side who have already been mathematically relegated from the top flight.
The champions – who welcomed back goalkeeper Thibault Courtois after missing most of the season with a knee injury – opened the scoring in the 38th minute when Fran Garcia arrived at the back post to finish after Brahim Diaz had cut the ball back.
Real doubled their lead in first half stoppage time when Turkish youngster Arda Güler swept home.
Brahim Diaz added a third just after the break with a fine solo effort.
Diaz bagged his second and his team’s fourth just before the hour when he spun inside the box and fired in with his left foot. EFE
