Keiko Fujimori advances to second round election in Peru!
Keiko’s rival is not known yet!
Lima, Apr 12 (EFE).-
The right-wing presidential candidate Keiko Fujimori is expected to compete in a second round of voting on Jun. 7, according to exit polls published by pollsters on Sunday.
According to Datum, Fujimori received 16.5% of the vote, followed by ultraconservative Rafael López Aliaga with 12.8%, center-right Jorge Nieto with 11.6%, and right-winger Ricardo Belmont with 10.5%.

With a sample size of 18,144, Ipsos indicated that Fujimori received 16.6% of the votes; Roberto Sánchez, a left-wing candidate, received 12.1%; Belmont received 11.8%; López Aliaga received 11%; and Nieto received 10.7%.
These polls suggest that the candidate of the Popular Force party and political heir of former President Alberto Fujimori (1990–2000) is the only likely contender in the second presidential round. The first official results will be delivered by the electoral authorities in the coming hours, revealing her rival.

Alfredo Torres, the head of Ipsos Peru, told Latina that there could be a bias in the exit poll results in favor of candidates who were not favored in Lima due to the number of voters who were unable to vote in the capital.
Delays in the electoral process and the inability to vote at 211 polling stations affected 63,300 people in several Lima districts due to problems with the distribution of electoral materials.

The Prosecutor General’s Office, the National Justice Board, and the National Elections Jury have initiated investigations against the head of the National Office of Electoral Processes (ONPE), Piero Corvetto, and the transport company responsible for distributing electoral materials in Lima and the neighboring province of Callao.
As of Sunday, over 27.3 million Peruvians were called to elect their national authorities for the 2026-2031 term, including the presidency. The country has had eight leaders in the last 10 years amid a spiral of political crises.

None of the presidential candidates has a chance of receiving more than half of the votes in the first round, so a second round will be held between the two candidates who received the most votes.EFE
