Pope Leo XIV greeted American singer Pharrell Williams at the Vatican on Friday, during an audience held one day before a concert in St. Peter’s Square that also includes performances by artists such as Karol G, John Legend, and Andrea Bocelli.

In an image released by the Holy See, the author of famous songs such as “Happy” and “Freedom” greets the Pope in the Vatican’s Clementine Hall, wearing a sweatshirt and sunglasses.

The singer attended the opening of the “World Meeting on Human Fraternity 2025,” which in its third edition will bring together thousands of participants and concludes tomorrow with a concert in St. Peter’s Square and an aerial display featuring 3,500 drones.

Colombian artist Karol G is already in the Italian capital, as she herself revealed last Thursday with an image at the monumental Trevi Fountain.

St. Peter’s Square, in front of the basilica of the same name, is already equipped with a multitude of seats and designated entrances to host this “macro-concert,” as well as the various events that will take place over the next two days.

With this “World Meeting on Human Fraternity,” Rome will host roundtable discussions and meetings on issues such as the environment, childhood, art, artificial intelligence, and sports, spread across iconic venues throughout the city.

During his speech, the American and Peruvian pontiff called for an “alliance of humanity not founded on power, but on care” in a world “marked by conflict and division.”
