Britney Spears put an end to rumors suggesting she is working on a new album through an Instagram post, affirming that she will “never return to the music industry.” The Instagram post was a response to reports speculating that Spears might be working on her first album in nearly a decade.

“Just so we are clear, most of the news is trash. They keep saying I am turning to random to do a new album. I will never return to the music industry,” the singer wrote. Spears said that in recent years she has dedicated herself to writing songs for other artists and that she is currently happy being a “ghostwriter.” “When I write, I write for fun or I write for other people. For those of you who have read my book, there’s loads that you don’t know about me. I’ve written over 20 songs for other people the past two years.”

On Wednesday, the American celebrity magazine Page Six published an article suggesting that there were rumors about singers Charlie XCX and Julia Michaels working on an album for the “Toxic” singer.

Spears stepped back from music as she grappled with freeing herself from her conservatorship, which granted her father, Jamie, power over her life.

In 2022, she made a modest comeback with John Elton’s song “Hold Me Closer.”

In 2023, she released the single “Mind Your Business” with Will.i.am, with whom she had previously collaborated successfully on “Scream & Shout” in 2012.

However, her last studio album was “Glory,” released in 2016, featuring hits like “Slumber Party” and “Just Luv Me.”

In October 2023, the singer unveiled her memoir “The Women in Me,” making a series of revelations, including the abortion she experienced in her youth, a result of her relationship with pop singer Justin Timberlake. EFE mrl-ssk
