Cristiano Ronaldo “wants to continue playing for a few more years,” but “not too many,” the Portuguese footballer announced last night upon receiving a trophy at a gala organized by the Portuguese Football Federation (FPF).

The Saudi Arabian player for Al Nassr was awarded the “Prestige Globe” at the FPF’s “Portugal Football Globes” and in his speech, he addressed his future, stating that both the trophy and the longevity of his career are “a source of great pride.”

Cristiano Ronaldo, who is 40 years old, is training with the Portuguese national team to play in the 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against Ireland on October 11 and Hungary on the 14, both at Lisbon’s Estadio Alvalade.

The team coached by Spaniard Roberto Martínez leads Group F after two wins and could secure its place in the competition, which will be held in Mexico, Canada, and the United States, as early as this week, but Cristiano urged them to “think about the present.”

“Our goal is to win our next two matches. We’ll see about the World Cup,” he stated.
