Kim’s bid for Senate keeps ongoing!
MOORESTOWN N.J. –
Congressman Andy Kim announced the endorsement of 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East, in his bid for U.S. Senate. Representing over 8,000 healthcare families in New Jersey, 1199SEIU is on the frontline to fight for good jobs, healthcare, and civil rights. As the largest union of long-term care workers in the state, 1199SEIU has played a leading role in protecting nursing-home funding and building a statewide movement to improve staffing levels and ensure quality resident care, while representing nurses, nurse aides, techs, lab workers, clerks, housekeepers, dietary workers, transporters, pharmacists, and social workers, totaling 450,000 caregivers on the East Coast.
“We trust members of 1199SEIU to take care of our loved ones during the most vulnerable and critical times of their lives, with their members also being responsible for making sure hospitals, clinics and healthcare facilities across the state function every day,” said Congressman Andy Kim. “As the son of a New Jersey nurse, I grew up watching the hard work and dedication needed to work in these fields, and I thank 1199SEIU for trusting me to fight for them in the Senate.”
“As a healthcare worker and an immigrant, I’m so very proud to support Andy Kim for Senate,” said Son Bui, a certified nursing assistant and 1199SEIU member from Jersey City. “I’ve seen firsthand how he stands up for workers and families—and I cannot wait to have him as our Senator!”
“Rep. Andy Kim has been an incredible leader for New Jersey, and we are excited to do what it takes to make him our next Senator,” said Rhina Molina, Executive Vice President of 1199SEIU. “We know Andy as a humble and compassionate public servant—someone who has long championed quality healthcare, workers’ rights, and our democracy. We’re taking nothing for granted this year as we gear up to turn out the vote on Primary Day and onto November.”
Congressman Andy Kim is a three-term Member of Congress first elected in 2018 and is the first Asian American elected to federal office from New Jersey. In 2018 and 2020, Andy defeated two self-funding millionaires in a district carried by former President Trump, and in 2022 Kim defeated his third self-funding millionaire opponent by 12 points.
In his three terms in Congress, Andy has worked hard to lower costs for New Jersey families and help support small businesses through challenging times. Andy has also been a leading champion in fighting against corruption in our broken politics.
