Director Greta Gerwig and the stars of her film ‘Barbie’, Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, stole the show at the Oscars luncheon that brings together all the nominees a month before the awards ceremony.

Despite the controversy sparked by Gerwig and Robbie’s exclusion from the director and best actress categories respectively, both were warmly greeted by their colleagues at the event, in which a photo of the nominees is taken.

“I’m very happy, this is very exciting and I’m enjoying everything. This is something that never gets old,” the ‘Barbie’ director told EFE at the Beverly Hilton hotel, where the luncheon was held.

Gosling reunited with Emma Stone, his co star on ‘La La Land’, which earned Gosling an Oscar nomination and a best actress win for Stone in 2017.

Robbie stunned in a classic pink Chanel suit, a look she sported during the promotion of ‘Barbie’.

“Being here is very exciting,” Robbie told EFE.

Another big attraction at the luncheon was the border collie, who plays Snoop in ‘Anatomy of a Fall.’

The president of the Academy, Janet Yang, congratulated the nominees and urged them to keep their acceptance speeches short.

“Please keep your speeches short, meaning under 45 seconds (…) Speak from the heart. Be authentic,” the president said.

Director Christopher Nolan, who has been making waves in the awards season for ‘Oppenheimer’ which has 13 Oscar nominations, was also seen shaking hands with Martin Scorsese, another favorite for the best director award.

The winners of the 96th Academy Awards will be announced on Mar. 10 in a live, televised ceremony that will take place at the Dolby Theater in Los Angeles, California. EFE
