Berlin, Aug 19 (EFE).-

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky on Tuesday described the meeting in Washington between United States President Donald Trump and European leaders as a “significant step” towards a peace with security guarantees for his country.

“Yesterday, important talks took place in Washington with the President of the United States and European leaders. This was truly a significant step toward ending the war and ensuring the security of Ukraine and our people,” Zelensky said on social media platform X.

“We are already working on the concrete content of the security guarantees. Today, we continue coordination at the level of leaders,” he added.

He said there would be discussions in the relevant formats and that they would continue working in the matter until the next day.

“National security advisors are also in constant contact now. There will be security guarantees,” he underlined.

Zelensky thanked the allies for their support and assured him that they would do everything possible to make the road to “make the path to peace a reality.” EFE
