Sabalenka, ranked No. 1 in the world, started strong by breaking Anisimova’s serve for a 2-0 lead.

The American responded with three straight games to move ahead, but Sabalenka regained control, winning four in a row to seal the first set 6-3. She made only four unforced errors compared to Anisimova’s 15.

The second set followed a similar script. Sabalenka broke early and served for the match at 5-4, but Anisimova broke back to level.

The match went to a tiebreak, where Sabalenka’s record proved decisive; she had won her last 19 breakers. She raced to five match points, converting the third to finish the contest.

“Those tough lessons earlier this year were worth it for this moment,” Sabalenka said after the win.
