Spain crushes Belgium!
Thun, Switzerland, Jul 7 (EFE).-
Spain’s women’s national team continued their dominant run at the Euro 2025, thrashing Belgium 6–2 in their second group-stage match. The victory puts Spain just one step away from the quarterfinals with one match left to play.

Spain took a narrow 2–1 lead into halftime at the Arena Thun but stormed through the second half with four more goals to seal the win.
Captain Alexia Putellas led the charge with two goals (22’, 86’), while Irene Paredes (39’), Esther González (52’), Mariona Caldentey (61’) and Claudia Pina (81’) also found the net.

Belgium’s Justine Vanhaevermaet (24’) and Hannah Eurlings (51’) scored their side’s only goals.
“We stayed calm and confident,” said Putellas after the match. “This team keeps growing, and we’re very focused on our goal.”
Coach Montse Tomé praised her squad’s reaction in the second half. “The players knew they had to raise the intensity. I’m proud of how they handled the pressure,” she said.

With six points and 12 goals in two matches, Spain now tops their group and looks set to secure a spot in the next round. A draw or win in their final match will guarantee their place in the quarterfinals.
“We’re not thinking too far ahead,” added Putellas. “Step by step, we know anything can happen in this tournament.” EFE
