The final day of Group C at the UEFA Women’s Euro 2025 brought drama, upsets, and history-making moments. Sweden crushed Germany 4-1 to top the group, while Poland earned its first-ever win at a major tournament by edging Denmark 3-2.

In Lucerne, Sweden sent a clear message to the rest of Europe.

Despite falling behind early to a Jule Brand goal in the 7th minute, the Swedes hit back hard. Goals from Stina Blackstenius, Smilla Holnberg, Fridolina Rolfö (penalty), and Lina Hurtig gave the Scandinavians a dominant win over a German side that crumbled under pressure and finished the match with 10 players.

“We stayed calm and punished their mistakes,” said Swedish captain Kosovare Asllani. “This is the momentum we needed before the quarterfinals.”

With this win, Sweden finishes unbeaten and top of Group C.

They will now face the second-place team from Group D, potentially France, England, or the Netherlands.

Meanwhile, in the other group match, Poland made history. Led by Malaga-born forward Natalia Padilla, they beat Denmark 3-2 in their tournament farewell.

Padilla scored once and assisted twice, helping her team jump to third place. “It means the world to us,” she said. “This is a win we’ll never forget.”

Despite a second-half push from Denmark, who had goals from Signe Bruun and capitalized on a goalkeeping error, Poland held strong. Wiankowska’s late strike sealed the result.

For Denmark, finalists in 2017, it was a painful exit: three losses and last place in the group. “We’re disappointed, but we’ll come back stronger,” said coach Andrée Jeglertz.

Group C ends with Sweden on top, Germany second, Poland third, and Denmark out. For Sweden and Poland, it was a day to celebrate. For Germany and Denmark, a moment to regroup. EFE int-seo
